Proofreading

I charge an hourly rate of €35 for proofreading. (What is proofreading?)

Generally, the price for 15,000 words ranges from between €315-625 (incl. tax). This is equivalent to 7.5-15 hours of work. The lower price would be for texts that only need a light edit; the higher reflects work that requires heavy edits (e.g. for non-native speakers). Projects that are over 150 pages may be subject to a discount.

The speed with which I work varies depending on the level of intervention needed. Charging an hourly rate rather than per word therefore helps me to avoid overcharging you/undercharging myself. The above estimates are based on my experience, and I will be able to offer you a more accurate quote based on a sample of your work.

If your project is self-funded or you live in a country with a significantly weaker currency than the euro, please get in touch, and we can see if I can arrange a slightly lower price for you.

Copyediting

The lower number would be for texts that only need a light edit; the higher reflects the price for work that requires heavier language and (if requested) structural edits. Projects that are over 150 pages may be subject to a discount.

Generally, the price for 15,000 words ranges from between €624-1086 (incl. tax). This is equivalent to 15-26 hours of work. The lower end would be for a text that needs a minimum level of structural intervention and is syntactically and grammatically strong; the higher end would be for a text that requires a heavy proofread alongside a rigorous developmental copyedit. Projects that are over 150 pages may be subject to a discount.
